Day 7 Part A

Posted on 8th October, by mctalent in Uncategorized. No Comments

Sunday morning was nice a quiet since racing didn’t start until later in the day. Count, Mike and I went over to the Track early so that Mike could do a “once over” and make sure his bike was set up and ready to go. Count and I did a roller workout. Counts was a longer one since he rides on Wednesday. Mine was pretty short since I would be doing my Sprint qualifiers the next morning and Sprint heat the next two days. Afterwards a quick stop at ASDA ( similar to Walmart) for some snacks and back to the hotel to relax and wait for the evening racing.

Sunday’s racing was scheduled to start at 4pm and it was right on time. The young age groups had a Kilo Time Trial and then the riders in the 40-44 and 45-49 had 750meter time trials. Mike Paulin and Pat Larabee were in the 45-49 age group, so we sat through many rounds of time trial and before we knew it, it was time for Pat and Mike to go. Pat went first and knocked off almost 2 seconds from last year with a  54. Something ( need to get official times) . After a few more rounds, Mike was up.  Mike had a great start and a good run finishing with a 52.0 something (need to get official times). For his best ever 750. I find out for sure but I am told Mike finished 10th and Pat finished 14th.

Andy LaCourte who is doing Team Sprint with Brent and I and is hanging with us, rode a 51.8 750 and looked real strong. It was a nice warmup for everyone too and they all will be Sprinting either tomorrow or Tuesday.

The first day of the Championships is in the books and Sprinting starts tomorrow. I am anxious to get racing!
